The article examines the theoretical and state-legal aspects of the territorial structure of the modern state. Itanalyzes the evolution of the conceptual and categorical apparatus, considers the main models of territorial organization (unitary state, federation, regionalist state, confederation), and identifies current trends in the development of territorial structure. Special attention is paid to the constitutional and legal foundations of the territorial structure of the Russian Federation, problems of federal relations and spatial development. Based on the analysis, conclusions are drawn about the transformation of traditional forms of territorial structure under the influence of decentralization, regionalization and asymmetry.

В статье исследуются теоретические и государственно-правовые аспекты территориального устройства современного государства. Анализируется эволюция понятийно-категориального аппарата, рассматриваются основные модели территориальной организации (унитарное государство, федерация, регионалистское государство, конфедерация), выявляются современные тенденции развития территориального устройства. Особое внимание уделяется конституционно-правовым основам территориального устройства Российской Федерации, проблемам федеративных отношений и пространственного развития. На основе проведенного анализа формулируются выводы о трансформации традиционных форм территориального устройства под влиянием процессов децентрализации, регионализации и асимметрии.
