<p>The article examines penitentiary pedagogy as an evidence-informed tool for the resocialization of convicted persons in custodial settings. Itargues that pedagogical work in prisons should not be reduced to administratively defined “educational measures” butmust be conceptual ized as an integrated educational process: assessment of educational and socio-cultural deficits, individualized development planning, formation of a law-abiding identity, and structured pre-release preparation. The analysis links Russian penitentiary-pedagogical scholarship with contemporary in ternational rehabilitation frameworks (Risk–Need–Responsivity, Good Lives Model, and desist ance-based approaches). Meta-analytic evidence is summarized, indicating that participation in correctional education is associated with reduced recidivism and improved post-release employment. Drawing on research literature and international standards for the treatment of prisoners, the article DOI: 10.24412/2782-3830-2026-1-245-251 № 1 - 2026 246 formulates requirements for penitentiary pedagogical technologies: individualization, a developmen tallearning environment, competency-based orientation, continuity of support across the “before– during–after” trajectory, and an emphasis on measurable outcomes. A conceptual framework for evaluating the effectiveness of penitentiary pedagogical programs is proposed, combining behavio ral, educational, and social adaptation indicators.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>пенитенциарная педагогика</kwd><kwd>ресоциализация</kwd><kwd>исправление осуждён ных</kwd><kwd>воспитательная работа</kwd><kwd>образование в местах лишения свободы</kwd><kwd>реабилитация</kwd><kwd>реци див</kwd><kwd>УИС</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>penitentiary pedagogy</kwd><kwd>resocialization</kwd><kwd>correction of offenders</kwd><kwd>prison education</kwd><kwd>rehabilitation</kwd><kwd>recidivism</kwd><kwd>correctional system</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="en">Penal Code of the Russian Federation: Federal Law No. 08.01.1997 of 1-FZ (asamended 02.01.2026).</mixed-citation><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Уголовно-исполнительный кодекс Российской Федерации: Федеральный закон от 08.01.1997 № 1-ФЗ (ред., действующая по состоя нию на 02.01.2026).</mixed-citation></ref><ref id="ref2"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="en">Forced labor pedagogy: textbook/ed.
